Matt enjoyed a relaxing birthday weekend. We went to the movie Fair Game and out to one of our favorite burger joints, Lions Tap. Fair game is an excellent movie. It was playing at the cheap theater in Hopkins and was worth the 3.00 dollars. It is about the coverup following the Weapons of Mass Destruction fluke that lead us to war with Iraq. Very, very interesting and engaging.
On Sunday Matt did the rounds at all the coffee shops in the Twin Cities that give out free drinks on your birthday. He was pretty caffeinated all day. We went to church and watched the kids Christmas Program. It was very cute. I loved seeing the sheep baa in the front row. Someday we will be taping the show and watching our little lamb too.
After church we went our to brunch at Lund's Minnesota Grille. Matt had his favorite: lemon ricotta pancakes. I had Challah french toast. it is dipped in custard and topped with cinnamon apples. It uses up all my calories for the week but oh well. It sure was tasty!
Matt enjoyed some fun birthday gifts. The baby gave him a Stork ornamnt for the tree. I gave him a coffee grinder and Twins Shirt. Matt used the money from his parents to buy an official Twins field ballcap. He loves it and wears it all the time. Often, when he is making supper. This is fine with me since, hey, his is making supper! Finally, he got a digital picture frame to keep at work on his desk from my family. He loves it and has already uploaded all our Italy photos. In a few months, baby will be making his/her way in the mix.
For the last few years, Matt and I celebrated our birthday week. We open a present every day depending on the number we have. It is fun. We also get to pick what time of birthday treat we want. This year Matt made it easy on me. He wanted a personal sized truffle cheesecake from Byerlys. Other years it has been cupcakes, angel food cake, or cheesecake.
