Daycare

Can you believe we need to start securing daycare already?  We went to one place, New Horizon in Edina and the first opening the have is for October 2011.  Luckily, that would probably work.  We also looked into a few others.  Two were not up to par and the third was great.  It is nice to know we have 2 good options.  I have one more I am going to screen on Friday.  Then, we should be set. 

Our two favorites so far are:

New Horizon,  right by work and I can drive past it to go home.  
Zion Early Childcare Center,  is 7 blocks from our house and I can also drive past it to go home.

Both do 5 day, 4 day, 3 day, and 2 day care.  The Zion center is part of Zion Lutheran Church so our baby would get some Christian teaching once it is old enough.  Both centers do sign language and have a Spanish class for the pre-schoolers.  Zion also does music therapy, dance class, adopt a grandparent, and walking field trips around Hopkins for the older children.  I would be comfortable with our baby at either place. 

We also may have the opportunity to have a friend, Jackie, take care of the baby full or part time.  She just had a son, Alex, in December and will be staying home with him from now on.  We mentioned it before their son was born but I haven't asked formally since. I figure she needs time to adjust to the new baby before thinking about adding another one during the day.  If it did work, the babies would be about 6 months apart in age.  I would be very comfortable with Jackie taking care of our baby too.  She is compassionate, caring, responsible, and fun to be around.
