20 week Ultrasound. It's a ..............

Baby Dvorak's Perfect Profile

We had our 20 week ultrasound on Friday.  All systems are a go and everything looks good for a healthy delivery.

Matt uploaded the first pictures right at the doctor's office.  He is so excited!

Top of picture shows the placenta.  Baby is below.

The baby is measuring right on schedule.  He or she likes the womb. I must have made a hospitable environment because she/he slept most of the ultrasound. He/she likes to sleep with his/her arm up over her head.  (Just like mom does.)  You can see three finger bones above the mouth in the picture on the left.

There was one moment when he/she stretched the legs out and crossed them at the ankles.  It was cute.

Baby Dvorak purses his/her lips
He or she likes to pucker his/her lips
In picture number two you can see two right chambers of the heart.  They are the 2 black blobs located in the middle of the chest.  IN front of the heart you can see about 4 ribs that make up the breast bone.

In an ultrasound, black represents air or fluid.  White represents bone.  If you look at the face, you can see the cheekbones and mandible( upper jaw bone).

Again, you can see the arm and hand located about the baby's forehead.

Now, onto picture number three.  The baby puckered his/her lips when Bonnie, the ultrasound tech, puckered on my belly to try and get the baby to move his/her arm.

This picture shows the bones of the skull coming together well.  You can also see three of the four chambers of the heart in this view.

During the ultrasound, we were able to see the bladder fill up with urine and stomach fill with amniotic fluid.  This confirmed the digestive and urinary system work.

All in all we had a wonderful ultrasound.  The baby didn't let us get a good enough picture of the outflow tract of the heart so we get to have a second ultrasound next month.  Bonnie, even told us she will do some 4d pictures.  Afterward the ultrasound and appointment, we went out and celebrated at Patrick's Bakery for lunch.  I enjoyed sipping a good cup of decaf cappuccino.

The pictures are up on the fridge now and on the background of my phone.  Matt and I cannot stop looking at them.  We are truly blessed!
